In an effort to ensure good care, Virginia law requires senior care agencies like Senior Insights to have a Registered Nurse perform assessments “of client needs to develop a plan of care or services.” How extensive those assessments are, or how often they take place, can vary from one agency to the next.

Like our initial three-part holistic needs assessment, our periodic RN assessments look at physical health, mental health, functional and social abilities, cognitive health, and even a safety evaluation, to obtain a complete picture of our clients. Good as the initial assessment is, what brings even more joy to clients and their families is our commitment to reassess our clients monthly. In these times of COVID-19, this helps families torn between the risk of exposing their loved one to possible infection in a doctor’s office or an emergency room and the risk of letting a potentially serious non-COVID condition go untreated. Our nurses are also able to communicate with physician offices to help coordinate care. Physicians appreciate our reviews of respiratory, cardiac/circulatory, gastrointestinal, neuromuscular, and urinary systems as well as vital signs analysis and skin condition.
